William Givens Jensen, known as Bill to his family and friends, was born on October 1st, 1950 in Ogden, Utah. The youngest of six children, he was always eager to help out around the house and on the family farm. He loved spending time with his siblings and cousins, and often went fishing and camping with them in the summers.

After high school, Bill joined the Navy where he served for four years.

William Givens Jensen is a partner at the law firm of Davis, Wright, Tremaine LLP in Seattle. His practice focuses on antitrust and competition law. He has been named one of Washington’s “Super Lawyers” by Law & Politics magazine for nine consecutive years.

-What Inspired William Givens Jensen to Become an Artist

William Givens Jensen was born in San Francisco, California on August 29th, 1948. His father was an engineer and his mother a homemaker. Jensen’s parents encouraged him to be creative and he would often spend hours drawing and painting.

When he was sixteen, he enrolled at the San Francisco Art Institute where he studied under the renowned abstract expressionist painter Richard Diebenkorn. After two years of study, Jensen decided to move to New York City to pursue his dream of becoming an artist. Jensen’s time in New York proved to be invaluable as he was exposed to the work of many different artists including Willem de Kooning, Jackson Pollock and Mark Rothko.

He also had the opportunity to meet and befriend fellow artists such as Robert Rauschenberg and Andy Warhol. In 1970, Jensen had his first solo exhibition at the Leo Castelli Gallery which helped launch his career as a successful artist. Today, William Givens Jensen is considered one of America’s foremost painters.

His work can be found in major museums and private collections all over the world.
