In the changing world of Kpop singers, where artists manage busy schedules, hard training, and global fame, contract renewals with entertainment companies often make news.

Fans are curious to know why their favorite idols stay with or leave their agencies.

Recently,Hoshi from Seventeen charmed fans with a funny and heartfelt reason for renewing his contract with HYBE Labels.

Hoshi’s Funny Story on ‘Salon Drip’

During a recent appearance on the popular YouTube show ‘Salon Drip,’ hosted by comedian Jang Do Yeon, Hoshi shared a story that had fans and viewers laughing.

The show, known for its light and honest interviews, was the perfect place for Hoshi to talk about his time at HYBE.

The Rising Cost of Meals

Hoshi started by talking about Seventeen’s journey since their debut. He joked about how the cost of meals for the group had gone up with each comeback.

“I am so thankful that we are a part of HYBE now,” Hoshi said. He talked about the company’s impressive facilities, which were very different from their early days.

“The company building is so tall; it’s so cool inside when the weather is warm, it’s warm inside when the weather is cold, we can enter with face recognition, they give us transportation wherever we go.

It used to be during our debut days that we were always dying of heat when the weather was warm, we were freezing to death when the weather was cold, and we were always cramped with so many people in a small space.”

The Best Thing About HYBE

Jang Do Yeon, always curious and engaging, asked Hoshi what he thought was the best thing about being at HYBE. Hoshi’s answer was both unexpected and funny.

“To be honest, there are so many great things about HYBE… but I guess for me, the essentials are important. So I ordered ramyeon at the company cafeteria.

I was expecting the regular ramyeon, but what I got was ramyeon topped with abalone and octopus. Right at that moment, I knew that I had to renew with the company.”

The Elevator Challenge

Every workplace has its quirks, and HYBE is no different. Hoshi shared one of his few complaints about the company: the elevator situation.

“There is only one elevator for the artists, and we always have to wait a long time for it. The entrance to the building for artists is on the 3rd ground-level floor of the parking lot.

You have to take the elevator there, and that elevator only goes up to the floors that the artists can use, like the artist lounge which is on the topmost floor, the recording and practice rooms, and so on.”

A Memorable Encounter with NewJeans

Hoshi talked about a memorable encounter involving the elevator. “Once, I wanted to get on the elevator for the ground level parking lot. But it just so happened that the 5 members of NewJeans were getting on.

They asked me to come on with them, but I couldn’t get on, and let them go ahead,” he recalled.

This story showed the friendly relationship among HYBE artists and the everyday challenges they face.

A Video Message to Bang Si Hyuk

In a light-hearted yet sincere plea, Hoshi sent a video message to Bang Si Hyuk, the founder of HYBE.

“Si Hyuk-nim, I think it would be great if there were two elevators for the artists”.

This simple request highlights the practical needs of artists and the importance of logistical support in their daily lives.

Evolution of Seventeen under HYBE

Seventeen, debuting under Pledis Entertainment, and joined HYBE in 2020 when the company acquired Pledis.

This merger brought many changes for Seventeen, providing more resources, better facilities, and greater global reach.

Hoshi comments highlight an often overlooked aspect of the entertainment industry: the importance of comfortable working conditions.

For artists who spend countless hours practicing, recording, and performing, a supportive and well-equipped environment is crucial.
