Griha Pravesh Puja is a custom in the Hindu religion. It is also known as the Housewarming ceremony. Griha Pravesh puja is a Hindu ritual performed before occupying a new home to seek blessings for prosperity, health, and protection from negative energies. It involves various rituals, prayers, and offerings to deities and ancestors. 

Griha Pravesh puja is conducted on muhurat and auspicious dates determined by the Hindu calendar or by the Hindu priest. It has multiple names in multiple languages. This puja removes all negative energy and brings happiness, a healthy environment, good health, and prosperity. 

Some critical components of Griha Pravesh puja 

Griha Pravesh puja includes purification of the house, lighting of the sacred fire (Agni), recitation of Vedic mantras, and conducting home (Fire Rituals). The Griha Pravesh ceremony is usually Performed by a priest or a knowledgeable family Member.

Turmeric, kumkum, sandalwood(chandan), camphor(Kapoor), ghee, incense sticks (agarbatti), coconut, rice, fruits, flowers, mango leaves, Navagraha Samidha (a mixture of nine types of herbs used in the fire ritual, Darba Grass,panchamrit, dhoop, dry fruits, sweets Water, coin, Kalash.

Vidhi of Griha Pravesh Puja 

The vidhi or procedure of Griha Pravesh puja varies based on Hindu customs, but here are general guidelines that people can follow-

1. Selects the auspicious date:

 Consults the date according to the Hindu calendar and by a knowledgeable priest and astrologer. 

2. Purification of the home:

Before starting the ceremony, clean the entire home thoroughly to remove any impurities. Some may also choose the vastu puja for the house, which is very important.

3. Arrangements of materials:

Collect all necessary materials for the puja, including sacred items like idols or images of deities, flowers, incense sticks, camphor, ghee lamps, fruits, sweets, grains, and holy water.

4. Invocation of deities:

Begin the puja by invoking the blessing of lord Ganesha, lord Shiva, and lord Vishnu.

5. Ganesh puja : 

We start our puja with the blessings of lord ganesha to remove all obstacles. After that, sprinkling holy water and chanting Vedic mantras,

6. Havan (Fire Rituals) : 

Conduct a havan ceremony by sacred fire and offering ghee, herbs, and grains into the fire while reciting the Vedic mantras by a priest.

7. Kumbha Sthapana: 

A particular place where to keep the Kalash full of water and adorned with mango leaves before entering the home is to break the coconut on the main door of the house, and first, you put the right legs in the house.

8. Navagraha puja: 

Perform a Navagraha puja to nine planetary deities for success in the home.

9. Puja in the Kitchen : 

We should also perform puja in the kitchen and should make the swastika with kumkum,mouli,& akshat at usable things like a stove, etc.

10. Aarti and Prasad Distribution: 

To perform the end part of Griha Pravesh puja and distribute prasad to all attendees.

11. Seeking Blessing:

The most essential part of puja is to seek blessings from elders, your family members, guests, and the priest.
