Uterine fibroids – Common in Reproductive age

When the woman is active with the reproductive capabilities, then she may get uterine fibroids. In almost 70% of the cases, we have observed that the fibroids are benign. What are fibroids?

Do fibroids cause infertility?

Fibroids that are greater than 6 cm in size and the ones which are located in the uterine cavity, may considerably affect the:

The submucosal fibroids which have gotten protruded in the uterus are the kind of fibroids that are accountable for blocking the openings of the fallopian tubes that can also damage the fallopian tubes of the women.

How can fibroids affect infertility?

The fibroids can affect infertility in several ways:

  • Blocking fallopian tubes could be either challenging or impossible for the fertilised egg to get descended into the uterus.
  • The shape of the cervix can get changed which can quintessentially affect the number of sperms that is permissible to be entered into the uterus.
  • The shape of the uterus may get quintessentially changed. Because of this, tampering with the movement of the embryo and the sperm can be experienced.
  • The thickness of the lining of the uterus can be changed which can disturb the implantation of the embryo.
  • The amount of blood that flows to the uterine cavity will be reduced, which will negatively affect the ability of the embryo to get either developed or implanted.
