The small straws in a soft wind were the only things that she could focus on. Everything else was a blur. The world around her was moving too fast and it was all too much.

She needed to focus on something, anything, to ground herself. And so she fixated on the small straws in a soft wind.

The other day, I was out for a walk and I noticed the most delightful thing: small straws blowing in the soft wind. It was such a peaceful and beautiful sight that it stopped me in my tracks. It made me think about how something so small can have such a big impact.

Just like those little straws, we each have the power to make a difference in the world. We may not always feel like our voices are being heard, but if we stand together and speak up, we can create change. So let’s be like those little straws and never give up hope or lose sight of what’s important.

We may not always see eye to eye, but if we work together, we can weather any storm.

What Inspired You to Write Small Straws in a Soft Wind

I was inspired to write Small Straws in a Soft Wind after reading an article about the power of words. The article talked about how our words can either build someone up or tear them down. I realized that often times, we don’t realize the impact our words can have on others.

We may say something without meaning to hurt someone, but if they’re already feeling vulnerable, our words can be like a small straw that breaks their camel’s back. On the other hand, we may say something encouraging to someone who is struggling and it could be just the gentle push they need to keep going. After reading this article, I felt compelled to write a book that would encourage people to choose their words carefully.

I wanted people to think about how their words might affect others before they spoke them. And so, Small Straws in a Soft Wind was born. This book is my attempt at helping people see the importance of using kind and loving words with everyone they meet.

We all have the potential to make a difference in this world with our words, and I hope my book will inspire people to do just that.

What is the Book About

The Catcher in the Rye is a novel by J. D. Salinger, first published in 1951. The novel follows Holden Caulfield, a teenager from New York City, who is expelled from his prep school and then takes a journey around America. The story starts with Holden being kicked out of Pencey Prep for flunking out of all his classes except English.

Holden tells us that he’s not going home because he doesn’t want to face his parents’ disappointment. So instead, he decides to take a trip to New York City. Holden isn’t sure what he wants to do in NYC, but he figures he’ll just wander around and see the sights.

He eventually winds up at Central Park, where he runs into an old friend from his boarding school days, Phoebe Caulfield. Phoebe is Holden’s younger sister, and she’s the only person in his life whom he truly cares about. Seeing her again makes him realize how much he misses everyone back home.

He also realizes that he can’t keep running away from his problems forever; eventually, he’s going to have to face up to them head-on. The Catcher in the Rye is ultimately a coming-of-age story about a young man who learns to accept responsibility for himself and his actions. It’s also a portrait of 1950s America, with all its contradictions and hypocrisies on full display.

What are Some of the Themes You Explore in the Book

The Catcher in the Rye is a novel by J.D. Salinger that was first published in 1951. The book follows Holden Caulfield, a teenager from New York City, who is kicked out of his prep school and becomes a wanderer in America. The novel has been banned several times due to its profanity and sexual references, but it remains one of the most popular books ever written.

Some of the themes explored in The Catcher in the Rye include teenage angst, alienation, rebellion, and loss of innocence.

What Did You Hope Readers Would Take Away from the Book

When I set out to write my book, I had one primary goal in mind: to help people. I wanted to provide readers with accurate and detailed information that would help them improve their lives. And judging by the feedback I’ve received so far, it seems like I’ve succeeded.

People have told me that they appreciate the fact that I was honest about my own struggles and didn’t try to sugarcoat anything. They also found the practical tips and advice useful, and said that they felt like they could really apply what they learned from the book to their own lives. Ultimately, if people can take away even just one thing from my book that helps them in some way, then I’ll consider it a success.

So if you’re thinking about reading it, know that you may just come away with some valuable insights – and maybe even a few laughs along the way.

JULY 3, 2020, SMALL STRAWS IN A SOFT WIND by MARSHA BURNS – Let this time be one of forgiveness

Conclusion

In his book The Wind in the Willows, Kenneth Grahame wrote, “There is nothing – absolutely nothing – half so much worth doing as simply messing about in boats.” And while I would never argue with the great Mr. Grahame, I would like to add that there is something else that is at least equally worth doing: Simply messing about with straws. Yes, straws.

Those ubiquitous plastic tubes that we use to suck up our drinks and then discard without a second thought. But what if I told you that there was a whole world of straw-related fun to be had? A world where straws can be used for everything from blowing bubbles to playing musical instruments?

Well, my friends, that world does exist, and today I’m going to show you just how much fun you can have with a few simple straws. So grab some straws and let’s get started!
