The Canada-ASEAN Scholarships and Scholarships and Educational Exchanges for Development (SEED) program provide opportunities for students from ASEAN member countries to conduct a short study or research in Canadian post-secondary institutions in areas that contribute to the implementation of the 2030 agenda for sustainable development.

The scholarship is offered on different levels of study and its value varies accordingly. On the undergraduate level the value of the scholarship depends on the duration of the course. It is for study or research at the undergraduate level. You need to have a valid student exchange agreement for the scholarship. To be eligible for this scholarship you must be a citizen of any of the following ASEAN member states like Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos (Lao People’s Democratic Republic (Lao PDR)), Malaysia, Myanmar, The Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, or Vietnam, a full time student at a post-secondary institution in an ASEAN member state, you will have to pay tuition fees to that institution at the time of application and for the duration of your exchange program.

2. Study Scholarships in Canada

  • Level of Study: Undergraduate, Postgraduate

  • Undergraduate (4 months): $10,200
  • Graduate (4 Months): $10,200
  • Graduate (5-6 Months): $12,700

This scholarship aims to increase opportunities for Canadian post-secondary institutions to welcome international students from various countries and territories on a short-term exchange for study or research. This allows institutions to diversify their student body to promote academic and research excellence in the new markets.

The amount of the awards can be used for visa or study work permits airfare via the most direct and economical route, health insurance, living expenses, such as accommodation, utilities and food, ground transportation, including a public transportation pass, books and supplies required for study or research, excluding computers and other equipment.

To be eligible for this scholarship you will have to engage in full time study or research as defined by Canadian institutions. You must not be involved in clinical training or clinical research involving patient care. You will have to primarily focus on your study or research during the scholarship period and return to your home institution after completing studies.  This one of the most prestigious scholarships in Canada.

3. Ontario Graduate Scholarship

  • Scholarship Type: Academic
  • Level of Study: Postgraduate
  • Scholarship Value
  • Graduate (1 Session): $5,000
  • Graduate (2 Sessions): $10,000
  • Graduate (3 Sessions): $15,000

The Ontario Graduate scholarship program was started to encourage excellence in graduate studies at public assisted universities in Ontario. The scholarship offers $5000 per session. Which means awardees can receive up to $15,000 for 3 consecutive sessions.

In any case the awarding graduate unit will contribute one third cost of the total award received by the student. The duration of the scholarship is for a year that is 2-3 consecutive academic sessions. The value and duration of the scholarship will be decided by the awarding graduate unit and will be detailed in the offer letter.

To be eligible for this scholarship you must be an international student who are studying or plan to study at the University of Toronto under a temporary resident visa (student study permit). You must not have exceeded the lifetime maximum of government funded support or maximum OGS/QEII support available for study your level. You must have at least A- or equivalent in each of the last two completed years if study or have a 2-year graduate studies at the time of the application.
